Vascular Lesions

Vascular lesions are common abnormalities of the skin and underlying tissues, leaving pigmentation on the body also known as birthmarks. Vascular lesions are the result of numerous or large vessels that form directly underneath the skin. These lesions occur in many sizes, shapes and can be found all over the face and body. Although the causes of vascular lesions are unknown, scientists believe that they are most often a result of clusters of blood vessel growths developed at birth but may not have a noticeable appearance for weeks and sometimes years.

These superficial haemangiomas are typically a bright red colour and frequently grow outward on top of the skin surface, whereas deeper lesions look more like a bruise on the skin with a soft tissue mass beneath it.

Laser treatment is one of the best options for treating vascular lesions on the face. There are several skin lesions that are very common and benign (non-cancerous). They are one of the most common bumps on adult skin, and although they are harmless, they can be an annoying skin problem for most people. If you suffer from any vascular lesions, pigmented lesions (birthmarks) our Savant Specialist can advise you on the best treatment for your skin so that you can reach your beauty goals.

We treat these indications with a variety of treatments using Cryotherapy or Laser therapy (RuVy Touch), and the choice of the treatment depends on the consultation. Laser therapy is an effective treatment for removing pigment from the skin, such as freckles or lesions. This procedure will be done by the doctor to help improve the appearance of your skin. Flawless skin can be achieved in seconds with minimal invasion and without the need for injections. More complex lesions should be examined first and treated by a suitably qualified medical professional, so you may wish to speak to your GP about them first. Patients that experience irritation, discomfort and want to get rid of bumps on their skin can opt for treatment.

  • Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment for vascular lesions and is safe for all (including children and young adults).
  • Including consultation and prep, the treatment time is 30-45 mins, depending on the size of the area.
  • On average, 1-3 treatments are required at the 4-6 week interval.
  • Several vessels can be targeted in one flash of light.

Different vascular lesions we treat

Our Laser treatment can both help treat vascular lesions, such as:

  • Port Wine Stains
  • Spider Angioma
  • Cherry Angioma
  • Haemangioma
  • Facial Telangiectasias
  • Reticular Idiophatic
  • Telangiectasias
  • Periocular Vessel

In clinical studies, 80% of patients had a greater than 50% reduction in the number of vessels and 78% of patients with rosacea reported being very satisfied.

Short, safe bursts of light are directed at the skin. These may be visible Intense Pulsed Light (called Selective Waveband Technology) or from a laser, depending on the condition. The system filers the light to ensure the wavelengths used are absorbed by haemoglobin in the blood in the problem vessels. The light is converted to heat which destroys the protein in the wall of the vessels, causing the vessels to gradually disappear after treatment.

With Laser Treatment, we provide a safe and effective way of treating your concerns and removing pigment from the skin, such as freckles or lesions. Laser Therapy (RuVY Touch) delivers intense energy into the skin to precisely treat pigmented lesions and other epidermal pigmentation by breaking down the melanin in the epidermis without causing any damage to the surrounding skin. This effective pigment removal treatment uses a unique wavelength, 660nm, that significantly reduces the possibility of having post-treatment side effects such as PIH and can be used to treat lesions on the face, scalp and body.

Several vessels can be targetted in one flash of light; the treatment time depends on the area to be covered and the number of distinct vessels to be treated.

A single sessions typically lasts 15-20 minutes.

Depending on the location of the area and the number of vessels to be treated: on average a minimum of 3 treatments are needed at 4 week intervals.
